Amethyst
is the most common crystal of the Quartz family. Amethyst’s
gorgeous hues of purple are always popular and fashionable. Most
Amethyst today comes from Brazil or Africa. It ranges in color
from soft pastel purple to deep reddish purple. Its relative abundance
makes it available in many sizes at affordable prices. Most Amethyst
is inclusion free and durable. It wears well in all kinds of jewelry.
Its close relative, Ametrine, is an amazing mixture of Amethyst
and Citrine, where the purple hues of Amethyst transform into
the yellow hues of Citrine along the body of the gemstone. Natural
Ametrine is mined only in Bolivia. |
