Jade
has been treasured for thousands of years and is associated with
prosperity, success and good luck. There are two different gem
minerals correctly called Jade. They are Jadeite and Nephrite.
Jadeite is considered more rare and valuable, but both Jadeite
and Nephrite are best known for their green color. Fine quality
Jadeite is most cherished for its Emerald quality green color,
known as Imperial Jade. Jadeite comes in a variety of greens,
as well as lavenders, oranges, whites, and blacks. Nephrite also
comes in yellows, browns, grays, and black. Jade has exceptional
toughness. It is regularly carved into figurines, as well as beautiful
and valuable jewelry. It is one of the top selling gemstones in
Asia, but also takes a front seat in high end jewelry throughout
the world. |
