Turquoise
is one of the world’s most ancient gems. Unlike faceted
gemstones, it is opaque. The most valued color is called “Persian
blue” whether or not it originates in Iran. This color is
an even, medium blue. Turquoise does come in many shades of blues
and greens, from yellowish green to greenish blue. It was especially
popular in Art Deco period jewelry, combined with platinum and
diamonds. Turquoise comes in a wide array of quality and value.
It can appear in playful everyday jewelry, often with sterling
silver, or in high end, exquisite rings, earrings, and necklaces. |
